Air Arabia – Abu Dhabi to relaunch Colombo flights from September

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi has received the Foreign Air Operator Certificate (FAOC) yesterday from the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) to launch flights from September targeting the winter season.

The approval was given after satisfying the necessary technical and operational requirements in line with the Government policy to boost pathways for international airlines to operate flights in to Sri Lanka.  The FAOC was handed over by CAASL Director General and Chief Executive Officer P. A. Jayakantha to Air Arabia – Abu Dhabi Accountable Manager and Sales Manager Shibin Nazeem. 

The Application submitted by Air Arabia – Abu Dhabi was scrutinised by the Civil Aviation Inspectors of CAASL by considering the organisational structure, capability, availability of qualified and well trained staff, instruments/equipment, ground handling arrangements and other required facilities and documents for the certification under the guidance of CAASL Director General and CEO Jayakantha and the leadership of Deputy Director General (Flight Safety Regulations) Saman Gunawerdena. Air Arabia – Abu Dhabi Head of Operation  Chathura Colombage were also present on this occasion.

Air Arabia flies to over 170 destinations spread across the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and Europe via a fleet of 52 Airbus A320s and six A321 Neo LRs.
