Air France, the flag carrier of France, began scheduled operations with three weekly direct flights between Paris and Colombo yesterday.
Ambassador of France Eric Lavertu, State Minister of Aviation D.V. Chanaka, Air France – KLM Indian Sub-continent General Manager Jean-Noel Rault, Airport and Aviation Services (Lanka) Chief Operating Officer Shehan Sumanasekara, and senior officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka greeted the inaugural flight passengers at the airport.
“We are delighted to welcome Air France to Sri Lanka. I see this as a great opportunity to grow the tourism industry of our country,” Chanaka said.
He also said the Government would facilitate Air France to offer a better experience to its passengers.
Air France will operate three weekly direct flights between Paris and Colombo every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. The airline resumed operations nearly after 30 years.
