Ashok Pathirage appointed SriLankan Airlines Chairman

Top Business leader Ashok Pathirage has been appointed the new Chairman of SriLankan Airlines Ltd. with immediate effect.

Speaking to the Daily FT yesterday, Pathirage confirmed his appointment.

Pathirage is the Chairman and Managing Director of diversified blue chip Softlogic Holdings Plc, which operates in domestic growth-oriented sectors such as ICT, Healthcare, Retail, Financial Services, Automobiles and Leisure.

The Board of Directors of the national carrier is yet to be appointed. Applications to the Boards of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) are still open and the SriLankan Airlines Board will be reconstituted next week. 

SriLankan Airlines, which was previously overseen by the Ministry of Finance, has been brought under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. (CdeS)
