The Board of Investment (BOI) has taken another significant step forward to provide further convenience to customers by establishing an online platform to increase customer convenience.
This initiative is facilitated via the LankaPay Online Payment Platform, a real-time and online payment platform of LankaClear. Such an initiative on the part of BOI signifies the importance BOI places on providing a more efficient and convenient service to its customers.
At the ‘LankaPay Technnovation Awards 2019’ ceremony held on 7 October at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, the handing over of a plaque symbolised the positive stance taken by a dynamic State institution. It also conveyed the heartfelt appreciation of LankaClear to the BOI for taking very progressive steps forward to move Sri Lanka towards an economy less dependent on cash.
Now, customers of BOI have the convenience of making their payments online directly to BOI instead of physically visiting the institution to make such payments. It is not only the customers of BOI who stand to gain from this initiative, but it also improves the internal efficiencies within BOI where activities related to physical payment acceptance and reconciliation will be reduced dramatically. This will save time for relevant staff and permit them to focus on other important core activities.
These endeavours would undoubtedly contribute towards the realisation of the vision of BOI, which is to make Sri Lanka the most preferred destination for sustainable investments in Asia. Sampath Bank is the first bank to offer the online payment facility for BOI payments to their customers while a number of other banks will follow suit in the near future.
While there are number of staff at BOI whose untiring efforts culminated in making this initiative possible, LankaClear recognised the patronage of the senior management of BOI and the contribution of the BOI IT and Finance Departments.
