CAA fixes maximum retail price for rice

Hours after the Government declared rice mill operations an essential service, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) announced the maximum retail price on five varieties of rice.

Accordingly, keeri samba can be sold at an MRP of Rs. 125 per kg; white/red samba – steamed/boiled (excluding suduru samba) at Rs. 90 per kg; white/red raw samba at

Rs. 90 per kg, white/red nadu – steamed/boiled (excluding mottai karuppan and aattakkari) at Rs. 90 per kg; and white/red raw rice at Rs. 85 per kg.

The CAA announced the fixed prices via a Gazette notification.
