The Central Bank has announced an increase in the annual licence fee for commercial banks and specialised banks between Rs. 2 and 1 million for the next two years.
The fee structure is based on the total assets of each bank.
For banks with over Rs. 2 trillion in total assets the licence fee will be Rs. 40 million, up from Rs. 38 million previously.
For banks with assets worth Rs. 1 trillion and Rs. 2 trillion, it will be Rs. 37 million, an increase by Rs. 1 million. Above Rs. 500 billion and Rs. 1 trillion is Rs. 30 million from Rs. 28.5 million. Above Rs. 200 and Rs. 500 billion it will be Rs. 26.5 million up from Rs. 25 million. For banks with Rs. 125 to 200 billion, the annual fee is Rs. 19.5 million up from Rs. 18.5 million and for those between Rs. 75 and 125 billion it is Rs. 13.5 million up from Rs. 12.5 million; for banks with assets between Rs. 25 and 75 billion it is Rs. 7 million, up from Rs. 6.5 million and for less than Rs. 25 billion, the fee is Rs. 3.5 million as against Rs. 3.3 million previously.
