CID arrests Health Ministry Additional Secretary over substandard immunoglobulin imports

The Health Ministry Additional Secretary Saman Ratnayake was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday over the import of substandard human immunoglobulin injections.

The arrest was made after a statement was recorded for more than six hours by the CID.

The Maligakanda Magistrate ordered the CID to provide a statement yesterday.

Several key individuals, including former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, former Health Secretary and the Director of the Medical Supplies Division, are presently held in remand custody in relation to the immunoglobulin scandal.
