The country’s COVID-19 death toll yesterday rose to 208, with health authorities confirming four COVID-19 deaths.
According to the Department of Government Information, two deaths occurred yesterday while the remaining deaths occurred on 29 and 31 December 2020.
An individual from Colombo 14 passed away yesterday while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID).
She was 91 years old, and the cause of death is cited as blood poisoning and COVID pneumonia.
A resident of Alayadivembu was transferred from the Welikanda Base Hospital to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), where he passed away yesterday. The individual was 67 years old and died of COVID pneumonia.
The Department of Government Information added that a 65-year-old resident of Agalawatte passed away on 31 December 2020. He was identified as COVID-19-positive at the Kalutara General Hospital and was then transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital. The cause of death is cited as liver dysfunction and COVID pneumonia.
A 63-year-old from Darga Town died on 29 December 2020 while being admitted to the Kalutara General Hospital. He died of blood poisoning with COVID-19 and heart disease.
