CSE ends week with losses

The Colombo stock market remained bearish yesterday finishing the week on a negative note.

The ASPI closed at 10,610.53 down 9.07 points (-0.09%) while the more liquid S&P SL20 index closed at 3,022.99 down 6.39 points (-0.21%). Turnover was at Rs. 567.8 million. 

Asia Securities said CTC (+4 points) came in as the biggest index mover during the session, while MELS (-6 points), COMB (-4 points) and SAMP (-3 points) ended as the major laggards on the ASPI. 

Capital goods, food, beverage and tobacco, banks and consumer durables and apparel sectors led activity, collectively accounting for 62.4% of turnover. 

Foreigners recorded a net outflow of Rs. 88 million, while their participation increased to 12.1% of turnover (previous day 9.5%). Net foreign buying topped in TJL.N at Rs. 8.5 million ($ 26k) while net foreign selling topped in JKH.N at Rs. 48.6 million ($ 148,000). 

Crossings accounted for 3.6% of turnover with one crossing recorded in CINSX (Rs. 20.5 million; $63,000). Market P/E was 11.09.
