CTC former Chairman returns as shareholder

Former Chairman Susantha Ratnayake has returned to Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC) as a shareholder. 

As per the company's top 20 shareholders list as at end 1Q of FY21, Ratnayake's name appears at number 18 with 100,000 shares or 0.05%. CTC is the most valuable company on the Colombo Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of Rs. 185.16 billion.

Ratnayake served as Chairman at CTC from March 2013 to mid-2018 and as an Independent Non-Executive Director since October 2006. Sources said Ratnayake had acquired the stake mid-last year. 

Apart from Ratnayake, who was formerly Chairman of JKH, P.S. Jayawardena is the other new entrant to CTC's Top 20. High net worth investor Nimal Perera who held 125,522 shares earlier had exited. 

CTC share price closed yesterday at Rs. 988.50, down by Rs. 8.75
