Cabinet approves UL’s ground handling contracts worth Rs. 1 b

Two international agents have won contracts to provide ground handling services to national carrier SriLankan Airlines in Heathrow, London and Bangkok, Thailand for three years.

Cabinet had cleared recommendations by the Cabinet-appointed Special Standing Procurement Committee to award the ground handling service agents contracts to London Heathrow International Airport (LHR) and Bangkok International Airport (BKK) International for three years.

The Cabinet approved to award a Rs. 489.7 million contract for passenger and aircraft lift handling services at LHR to Danta Limited Institute and a Rs. 148.5 million contract for cargo handling services at LHR to Worldwide Flight Services Ltd., from 1 June till 31 May 2024. 

In addition, it approved to award a Rs. 381.7 million contract for Bangkok Airport ground handling services to Bangkok Flight Services Institute from 1 April to 31 March 2024.

Proposals were called in line with the limited international bidding procedure to select SriLankan Airlines ground handling service agents at BKK and LHR.
