The Cabinet, which discussed several measures to overcome the economic setback faced due to the COVID-19 outbreak, has given approval to a proposal by the Finance Minister to refrain from imposing fines on delayed tax payments up to 20 June.
“The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) imposes fines on those who delay paying taxes, but due to the two month lockdown due to COVID-19, Cabinet approved a proposal to grant time till 20 June for payment of taxes,” he said.
