Cabinet green-lights establishment of Rapid Service Unit at UDA

To expedite development projects in urban areas, the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved the establishment of a Rapid Service Unit.

The move will improve the current development application processing system to woo new investments by fast-tracking approval for development projects.

“The unit will facilitate entrepreneurs who have submitted all necessary documents to obtain approval for development permits in a fast-tracked manner removing all unnecessary red tape which hindered projects,” Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardane said at the post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.

He also said the unit will forward the applications for the approval of other relevant institutions necessary for the development permits.

The proposal to this effect submitted by Urban Development Minister Prasanna Ranatunga was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
