The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Monday approved the proposed roadmap and timeline of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) restructuring process.
Taking to Twitter, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera made the announcement and noted that they are hoping to complete the transition process by October 2023.
He also added that the final draft of the new Electricity Act will be presented to the Parliament for approval by the end of next month.
He also confirmed that the Cabinet of Ministers approved the establishment of a Reform Secretariat and obtain assistance from development agencies for the process.
The development agencies include the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
