The Cabinet of Ministers has approved signing an agreement, to streamline and enhance the visa application process for foreigners visiting Sri Lanka.
On 11 September, the Cabinet approved to make crucial decisions regarding the appointment of an authorised agent for online submissions.
During the meeting, the Cabinet opted to form an evaluation committee to meticulously assess the proposal presented by GBS Technology Services and IVS Global – FZCO and VFS VF Worldwide Holdings Ltd. These organisations sought authorisation to serve as the official agents for the online submission of visa applications on behalf of foreigners visiting Sri Lanka.
Following a thorough evaluation, the committee has submitted its report, marking a pivotal step towards modernising and simplifying the visa application system.
The Cabinet of Ministers, having reviewed the committee’s findings, subsequently approved the proposal put forth by the Public Security Minister Tiran Alles on Monday.
This dual approval signifies the Government’s commitment to ensuring a robust and legally sound system for processing visa applications. The system is carefully drafted following observations made by the Attorney General, the Government said.
