According to an 18 July news report titled “How Silicon Valley Aided Lance’s Leap into Power,” the New York Times says during a $ 300,000-a-person dinner in Silicon Valley last week, former US president Donald Trump, “seated next to David Sacks, an entrepreneur, and another tech investor Chamath Palihapitiya”, informally polled the room (in Sach’s Pacific Heights mansion) about whom to choose as his running mate.”
Sachs, Palihapitiya and others at the fund raising dinner had the same answer. “Pick Mr. Vance,” they told Trump.
The Times also quotes Palihapitiya, a self-made multi-millionaire, as saying, in a text message: “JD (Vance) is an exceptional pick. We will all be better off as he works on all our benefits.”
Palihapitiya, was originally a Canadian citizen, whose father was on the non-diplomatic staff at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Ottawa, in a bygone era.
