Channa Gunawardana new Litro Gas Lanka Chairman

Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. and Litro Gas Terminal Lanka Ltd., have announced the appointment of Channa Gunawardana as their new Chairman, marking a significant step in the companies’ ongoing commitment to ensuring uninterrupted energy supply across Sri Lanka.

Gunawardana brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, including his tenure at Aitken Spence Group as CEO/Director of Aitken Spence Garments Ltd. and CEO of Royal Fernwood Porcelain PLC from December 2021. 

Prior to that, he joined Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC in 2019, where he demonstrated his expertise in business transformation and leadership.

His international exposure includes serving as Country Manager for Ernst and Young in the Maldives, Chief Financial Officer for apparel operations in Bangladesh, and setting up a pioneering manufacturing plant in Africa in 2015. His 12-year career at Hirdaramani Group culminated in his role as Chief Operating Officer of the Knit Cluster, where he oversaw 10 manufacturing plants and led sales and marketing initiatives for key product lines.

Litro Gas Lanka, Sri Lanka’s foremost energy provider, plays a crucial role in ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted supply of energy to households and industries. 

Litro said Gunawardana’s appointment further strengthens its vision of reaching every corner of the island with its services, powering both households and energy-intensive industries during even the most challenging times.

Gunawardana’s leadership and expertise have earned him numerous accolades, including the Hall of Fame for Leadership Excellence 2022 from the Colombo Leadership Academy and the title of Best Manufacturing CEO of the Year 2022 by CEO Sri Lanka. He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and the Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, holds an MBA from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and a First-Class degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Management and Science University in Malaysia.
