Cinnamon Bentota Beach, a property of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts – Sri Lanka’s leading hospitality chain – last night welcomed foreign guests, becoming the first hotel in Sri Lanka to do so following the reopening of the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Cinnamon Bentota Beach welcomed a group of ten guests from Dubai, who flew in via Emirates’ first flight to Sri Lanka following the official opening of borders that saw international tourists allowed into the country, under COVID-19 regulations for safety and security.

Cinnamon Bentota Beach General Manager Donald Wingell said: “It is a pleasure to welcome our ten guests to Cinnamon Bentota Beach. All resort operations are being conducted under strict compliance with government regulations, as well as our stringent standards for hygiene and safety as part of the brand’s own standard for cleanliness known as Cinnamon Care. The protection of our guests, staff and greater community are at the heart of all that we do, and we look forward to ensuring a fulfilling and satisfying stay for our guests.”

All guests underwent PCR testing at the Dubai Airport, followed by a subsequent PCR test prior to check-in at the property, yielding negative COVID results, and are expected to enjoy the next seven days at the property.

Cinnamon Bentota Beach is a luxury beach resort with unique architecture, heritage and the finest accommodation, with world-class dining, and signature experiences. The property is located 112 km from the airport, featuring a stunning river and sea view. Cinnamon Bentota Beach is a level 1 certified hotel by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) and is a proud recipient of the ‘Safe and Secure’ compliance certification, along with all the other properties in the Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
