The Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry yesterday issued a circular recalling public sector employees to resume work from Monday (4).
The move follows 50% of the population and the majority of public sector employees being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, said Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry Secretary J.J. Rathnasiri in a statement yesterday.
However, it said pregnant women, nursing mothers and officers with special disabilities should not be called to a Government institution. Such officers should be called up only when absolutely necessary and special time and facilities should be provided for their arrival and departure.
As per the provisions in force prior to the issuance of yesterday’s circular, instructions will be given by the Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry in the future regarding the application of leave obtained by public officers for the purpose of confirmation, promotion and retirement of their service.
It has also been considered that public institutions should be successfully operated to achieve the targets of the Government.
The circular has been copied to all ministry secretaries, State ministry secretaries, provincial chief secretaries, department heads, divisional secretaries, public corporations and statutory board secretaries.
