CDS Co-founder and Principal Rihaab Mowlana
The founders of Colombo Dream School (CDS) have announced its launch pioneering a new era in performance arts and education in Sri Lanka.
They said CDS is not just a performing arts school, but a revolutionary approach to education that transcends boundaries, fosters creativity, and unlocks the true potential of every student. With a vision to be a leading educational institution, CDS is transforming the landscape of performing arts education, offering a gateway to a brighter future for children.
CDS is led by a team of educators, co-founded and spearheaded by Rihaab Mowlana and Naveed Rozais. Possessing a Master’s Degree, Rihaab brings with her a wealth of experience as an educator, having successfully imparted knowledge to students across diverse backgrounds and age groups. Naveed Rozais, an esteemed educator and program manager specialising in design and creative disciplines, exhibits a remarkable ability to innovate and pioneer new programs while adeptly managing a diverse team of tutors. Their collective expertise and unwavering commitment to student development elevate CDS to the status of a truly outstanding educational institution.
The Performance Arts program at CDS is tailored for aspiring young performers who are eager to delve into the world of creative expression. Designed to inspire and nurture talent, these qualifications provide candidates with a unique opportunity to showcase their creativity and passion in various performance arts. The program invites candidates to explore a myriad of performance arts, including but not limited to spoken word performances such as comedy routines, poetry, or acting, as well as physical theatre, and dance. It goes beyond conventional boundaries, encouraging candidates to embrace their personality, interests, and culture in creating contemporary theatre. Students will undergo evaluations through examinations administered by Trinity College London, a globally recognised awarding body, ensuring a rigorous assessment of their skills and proficiency. The Performance Arts programme is a journey of self-discovery, creativity, and the celebration of individual expression.
At the heart of Colombo Dream School’s mission is the empowerment of individuals. Rihaab Mowlana, Principal of CDS, remarks, “Colombo Dream School is more than just an educational institution; it’s a transformative experience. We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where students thrive, and our small class sizes ensure personalised attention, fostering stronger connections between students and teachers.”
Speaking about inclusivity, small class size, and the cultural impact of CDS, Rihaab says, “Inclusivity is not just a goal; it’s our foundation. We believe in fostering a learning environment where every student feels valued and supported. Our teaching styles accommodate the different learning styles of students. Our small class sizes facilitate individualised teaching, fostering an intimate learning environment that allows for personalised attention and stronger connections between students and teachers. Lecturers identify what learning styles excite the individual student and employ relevant techniques to engage them. Students are allowed to thrive, discover their passions, and learn at their own pace in a supportive environment.”
CDS Director of Programs Naveed Rozais articulates the institution’s dedication to holistic education by emphasising the thoughtful curation of programmes that transcend the conventional boundaries of performing arts education. “We’ve gone beyond the ordinary in designing our programmes. At Colombo Dream School, we believe in providing more than just a performing arts education; we are committed to offering a holistic learning experience that extends across a spectrum of disciplines,” added Naveed.
Colombo Dream School said it will revolutionise performing arts education and empower students to reach their full potential. With a unique approach to teaching and a dedicated faculty, CDS is poised to become a beacon of excellence in the field of performing arts and vocational education. We invite parents and students to join us in this incredible journey and experience the difference that our innovative and student-focused approach to education can make.
CDS also announced applications are open for the March 2024 intake in Performing Arts. This is in addition to a series of short courses and masterclasses that will be launched soon.
