The Colombo Rubber Traders’ Association (CRTA), representing a diverse group of stakeholders within the natural rubber industry, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Anura Kumara Dissanayake on his appointment as the ninth Executive President of Sri Lanka.

On behalf of the CRTA and its members, CRTA expressed its optimism and confidence in President Dissanayake’s leadership, believing that his tenure will usher in a new era of development and progress across multiple sectors in Sri Lanka, including agriculture and exports.

CRTA said the natural rubber industry, a cornerstone of Sri Lanka’s economy, has long played a vital role in the nation’s growth. However, the sector now faces significant challenges that threaten its survival. Immediate action and strategic planning are crucial to rejuvenating the industry and ensuring its sustainability. Despite the difficulties, the natural rubber industry still holds immense potential to contribute to the country’s economic recovery through exports, innovation, and job creation.

The CRTA, representing Producers, both Small Holders and Regional Plantation Companies, and Buyers and Brokers, is committed to collaborating with the new administration to find sustainable solutions for revitalising the natural rubber sector. We are eager to work hand in hand with the Government to implement strategies that will strengthen the industry, promote exports, and safeguard the livelihoods of thousands of Sri Lankans who depend on it.

“We believe that, with collective efforts and a shared vision, the natural rubber industry can once again thrive, making a significant contribution to the country’s economic growth,” CRTA added.
