  • PUCSL writes to CEB to ensure fair and equitable power shedding after bombarded with complaints elitist of Colombo did not suffer blackouts

The commercial capital Colombo will be subject to power cuts for the first time from today with CEB confirming the move.

Until today the entire country had been subjected to power cuts except the elitist Colombo.

However the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUSL) was forced to inform CEB that it needs to be fair and equitable in power shedding after the regulator was bombarded with angry complaints that certain parts of Colombo did not suffer the blackout as others did.

Separately PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said a four-hour and 40-minute power cut will be imposed in areas designated as A, B, and C, whilst four-hour and 30-minute power cut will be imposed in other areas.

Scheduled power disruptions of similar times were experienced countrywide yesterday as well.
