Growing cyber security threats to banking and finance sectors, industries, mobile and social media will come under the spotlight at the Daily FT and CICRA co-organised full day Summit on Wednesday 27 September at the Cinnamon Grand.
An expert panel of global speakers including two former hackers from the UK will highlight cyber security threats to companies and individuals as well as countries.
It is the first time that two ex-hackers are speaking at a public forum in Sri Lanka making the Daily FT-CICRA Cyber Security Summit important, drawing widespread interest. So far over 200 from the private and public sectors have registered. The 2017 Cyber Security Summit is endorsed by the Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure and the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka. CICRA is Sri Lanka’s pioneering cyber security training and consultancy organisation.
The global experts will highlight the latest trends in cyber-attacks and how companies, individuals and countries can and should manage the threat.
The two internationally known ex-hackers are Darren Martin and Jake Davis from the UK, who were founder members of notorious hacker groups Lulzsec and Anonymous in their teens. The duo will have a dedicated back-to-back sessions at the Summit whose participants will have a unique experience to “Hangout with Hackers” in the evening as well.
Other global and regional experts who will share key insights include Managing Director, Global Security Sales Organisation, Stephen Dane, who will speak on Cyber Security for Nation and Critical Infrastructure; Bayshore Networks, USA Senior Director ICS Vincent Turmel on Industrial and Enterprise Security, Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, Visa Consolidated Support Services Chief Risk Officer Shivakumar Sriraman along with Cisco Director, Security Business, Cisco India and SAARC Vishak Raman banking and financial services; US’ ZeroFox Executive Vice President, Global Services Gabe Goldrish on social media security and Airtel Sri Lanka CEO Jinesh Hedge on mobile security. Several other experts will join in as panelists as well.
Given the line-up of top global and regional experts, the summit will be the largest cyber security platform to find out the latest threats, trends and solutions.
The two young hackers were arrested for multiple acts of cyber-criminal activity. Darren is famous for hacking the famous UK newspaper The Sun’s website and posting a fake story about media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s body being discovered. Jake was charged with five crimes including unauthorised computer access and conspiracy to carry out a distributed denial of service attack on the UK’s Serious Organised Crime Agency’s website. Today they help law enforcement authorities and companies in their defence against hackers and cybercrime.
