The Government’s stance on the domestic debt restructuring (DDR) or optimisation (DDO) will be placed before a special cabinet meeting tomorrow, the Daily FT learns. Though the Cabinet met yesterday, DDR wasn’t taken up as the framework wasn’t ready.
Sources speculated that if and when Cabinet approves, the DDR/DDO will be presented to the banking sector on Thursday followed by Parliament on Friday.
In a related development the Parliament’s Business Committee meeting scheduled for 11.30 a.m. today has been postponed for 9 a.m. on Friday.
Source said no formal decision until then about sittings during the weekend of 1 and 2 July. They also opined that the Public Finance Committee cannot consider the DDR/DDO until after the Cabinet meeting.
