Despite President and officials assurance, people to suffer more power cuts

Despite the Government’s assurance of uninterrupted power supply, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) yesterday announced that it had given the green light to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to shed power in Colombo city over the weekend.

The PUCSL said in a statement, power shedding for Colombo city will take place based on previously announced groupings. These power cuts will be imposed between 4 and 7 hours to certain areas.

The PUCSL said three-hour power cuts between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and one-hour power cuts between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. will be imposed to areas designated as P,Q,R,S,T,U,V and W.

The Commission added that four-hour power cuts will be imposed between 8.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. and three-hour power cuts will be imposed between 4.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. for areas named as, E and F.

On Sunday, two hours and 30 minute power cuts will be imposed between 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. for areas designated as A,B and C.
