Business-leader turned Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian Dhammika Perera yesterday declared his readiness to contest the upcoming Presidential election but it was upto the party to make a final call.

Speaking to journalists at the inauguration of SLPP’s Centre for Professionals at Rosemead Place, Colombo 7, Perera stated that the final decision rests with the SLPP, the largest party in the Government at present.

“I am awaiting the party’s decision,” said Perera.

He noted that he has already begun the groundwork to secure victory in the elections.

Highlighting the need for concrete economic development plans from all political contenders, Perera asserted that he has started formulating his policies and requires only 60 days to present his economic strategy to the public.

Perera also addressed the challenges in the education sector, claiming that his policies under the DP Education program has resolved many of these issues.

“Only smart classrooms need to be provided to all schools in Sri Lanka, as the DP Education platform is already set up to offer equal education to all 10,000 schools in the country,” he explained.

Confident in his approach, Perera expressed optimism about gaining the support of undecided voters through his comprehensive policies aimed at further developing Sri Lanka’s economy.

However, there has been no official statement from the SLPP on whether they will field a candidate from within their ranks or align with President Ranil Wickremesinghe for the upcoming Presidential election.
