MP Dullas Alahapperuma

Former Minister MP Dullas Alahapperuma has joined a growing number from within the Government calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Cabinet of Ministers.

In a letter addressed to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the senior ruling party politician said the Prime Minister and Cabinet must bow down to the democratic demands of the people and step down to pave the way for a setting up of a Government with representatives of all parties in Parliament.

Alahapperuma said that unless this step is taken, with each passing day the country will be set back by several years.

“We should not hesitate to make the right decisions at this crucial juncture in our country. The majority of the MPs don’t want to be silent spectators as the people of this country suffer. The public expects all 225 to work together at this time,” Alahapperuma added.
