The Election Commission yesterday directed Police to remove stickers, flags depicting political slogans, photographs promoting candidates or political parties that are on display in three wheelers and private vehicles including private buses.
The EC said it has received numerous complaints regarding the display of such items on vehicles in contravention of election laws after the declaration of the presidential poll.
The Commission said that necessary instructions have been issued to respective Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs), Police officers in charge of divisions and through them the OICs of Police stations to conduct random Police patrols to remove such items displayed on vehicles. Meanwhile the EC has received close to 2m000 complaints since 8 October on various Election Law violations.
