Emirates has announced it will operate two additional flights a week to Colombo from today (15) to support the resurgence of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry as more key source markets relax travel restrictions.
The award-winning Dubai-based global airline said the added frequencies will increase direct flights between Dubai and Colombo to 14 a week, taking Emirates’ weekly schedule to Sri Lanka’s commercial capital to 21 flights a week, with the daily flight between Colombo and Male.
Effective today, Emirates flight EK650 from Dubai to Colombo, which currently operates five days a week, will be increased to a daily flight, with the additional service operating on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The flight departs Dubai at 02:40 hrs and arrives in Colombo at 08:25 hrs, while the return flight EK651 departs from Bandaranaike International Airport at 09:55 hrs and arrives in Dubai at 12:55 hrs, all times local.
Emirates has deployed its modern Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration on flights to Colombo, offering private suites in First Class, lie-flat seats in Business Class and spacious seats in Economy Class. The additional frequencies will add another 712 seats into Colombo per week, and Emirates SkyCargo will offer an additional 40 tonnes of cargo capacity each way per week between Dubai and Colombo.
