Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said the fuel requirements for the months of September and October as well as the distribution plans were reviewed with Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Ceylon Petrol Storage Terminal Ltd. (CPSTL).

“Stocks, refinery production, distribution plan, lapses and limitations, non-operating, non-cooperating stations, non-placement and non-payment of orders, fake and misuse of QRs, digitalising distribution systems were discussed,” he said via Twitter on Saturday.

Despite the considerable fuel queues that have re-emerged in parts of Colombo and suburbs, the Minister had previously attributed to distribution lapses whilst reiterating that are sufficient fuel stocks in the country.

Minister Wijesekera also said fuel requirements for the months of September and October were reviewed.

As per the Minister's cargo plans, confirmed shipments and the finances needed to procure the cargo were discussed with the CPC’s Commercial and Finance management team.

He said the Sapugaskanda Refinery's crude oil requirements for the next two months were also discussed with the officials.
