Energy Minister says next review of fuel prices on 15 Sept.

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday said fuel prices will remain unchanged, till its next assessment on 15 September as per the pricing formula. 

“There will be no changes in prices of fuel taking place tonight (Thursday). The next revision will be evaluated on 15 September,” he revealed via Twitter. 

The Government had earlier announced that changes to fuel prices will be made based on the fuel price formula, which will be announced every first and 15th of each month.

Separately, he told the Parliament that there was no possibility to drop prices, despite the declining fuel prices in the international market, as the stocks were imported at a high cost. 

“However, I believe that the public will reap the benefits and concessions in the future, once the fuel price formula is consistently implemented for a long period of time,” Wijesekera told the House.
