Ex-JKH fame Vasantha Leelananda joins Dhammika’s Fortress Resorts Board

Leisure industry expert Vasantha Leelananda formerly of John Keells Holdings PLC has joined the Board of The Fortress Resorts PLC as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

The Fortress is controlled 53.5% by companies owned by Dhammika Perera and MJF Holdings own 28% stake.

Vasantha counts over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry in senior management positions in Sri Lanka with the John Keells Group. He served as the Executive Vice President of the Destination Management sector of the John Keells Group from 2005-2018 and Managing Director of Walkers Tours from 1997-2005. He holds an MBA from the University of Leicester. He was a past president of Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) for four years, a Board Member of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) from 2003-2007, Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) from 2007-2010, and American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) from 2012-2014. He was also a Board Member of the Responsible Tourism partnership affiliated to the travel foundation UK, a Board Member of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) from 2015-2018 and a Director of Sri Lanka Business and Bio Diversity platform.

Following the latest appointment the Board of Directors of The Fortress Resorts PLC comprise K.D.H. Perera (Chairman and Managing Director), Malik J. Fernando, L.N. De. S. Wijeyeratne, J.P.V. Twest, C.V. Cabraal, J.A.S.S. Adhihetty, C.U. Weerawardena, R.N. Malinga (Alternate to Malik J. Fernando), J.R. Gunaratne, K. Amarasinghe, D.C. Fernando, Vasantha Leelananda, and A.M.J. Fernando (alternate to D.C. Fernando).
