Ex-Sampath Bank MD joins Boards of several Hayleys subsidiaries

Former Sampath Bank Managing Director Nanda Fernando has joined several boards of Hayleys PLC Group as Independent Non-Executive Director.

The subsidiaries are Haycarb Plc, Dipped Products Plc and Hayleys Fabric PLC.

Hayleys PLC controlling shareholder Dhammika Perera is also the biggest shareholder at Sampath Bank with Vallibel One PLC owning 14.95% stake.

At Hayleys Fabric, Fernando was among four new Directors appointed. Others were Siam City Cement Lanka Ltd - Colombo Chairman Nandana Ekanayake, Saumya Amarasekera PC and global textile industry specialist A.A. Mason who had previously served Mast Global USA and Mast Industries. He was a former General Manager - Ocean Lanka Ltd., a fabric manufacturer prior to leaving for the USA to work for Victoria’s Secret. At Haycarb Fernando was appointed along with Anomi Wanigasekera, a partner at law firm Julius and Creasy. At Dipped Products, Fernando joins Senior Prof. Arjuna de Silva, appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director.

Fernando currently serves as a Business Consultant. He is also a Director of Lanka Bangla Finance PlC and Lanka Bangla Securities PlC.

He is accredited with uplifting productivity in companies, resulting in increased stakeholder benefits.

He possesses a proven track record of strategic leadership, business growth, and exceptional financial performance. He provided effective leadership to Sampath Bank, utilising his expertise to drive organisational success and deliver exceptional value to stakeholders.

He is also well known for his proven professional skills on financial management and analysis, business development and growth, risk management and compliance, team leadership and talent development, operational excellence, stakeholder engagement and relationship management.

Prior to his current role Fernando was attached to Sampath Bank as Managing Director. He served Sampath Bank for 36 years from the year of its inception. Earlier in his career, he served Hatton National Bank for almost 6 years.

He is a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Sri Lanka and possesses a Master of Business Administration from Sikkim Manipal University, India. He is also an Alumni of Harvard University, Boston.
