FCID downsised; to be attached to CID

The Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID) of the Police has been relocated under the preview of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) a senior Police source told the Daily FT. 

According to sources, the FCID has been downsised prior to being reabsorbed under the CID. Some officers attached to the FCID have been reassigned to different postings. The reassigned unit has been placed under the command of a senior DIG attached to the CID. 

There has been calls to scrap the investigative body with some Government ministers calling it a tool for political victimisation by the previous Government.
