Sri Lanka is ranked 4th in among the top solo travel destinations this year, by the prestigious Forbes magazine.

“Sri Lanka, the fourth-most popular destination for solo travellers in 2024, gives visitors a chance to experience a major travel trend: slow travel by train. Thompson, of Flash Pack, said: “After a tumultuous few years, Sri Lanka has made a big comeback, and its iconic upcountry train routes are a major part of its appeal. With more U.S. travellers adding to an uptick in interest from U.K. customers this year, 2024 will be the moment when it all comes together and Sri Lanka once again rules the travel charts for slow, immersive adventure,” the report noted, describing Sri Lanka.

Topping the list is Japan, capturing the attention of solo adventurers worldwide. Notably, the ranking unveils a compelling trend, with five out of the top ten countries hailing from the vibrant continent of Asia.

Solo travel, defined as the act of journeying alone without companions or travel partners, has gained significant traction in recent years. This form of exploration allows individuals to embark on a personal odyssey, delving into new destinations, immersing themselves in diverse cultures, all without the company of friends or family.
