Foreign inflows to debt and equity market improve

The Central Bank on Friday said foreign inflows to both the debt and equity markets continue to improve.

It said foreign investments in the government securities market recorded a significant net inflow in September amounting to $ 39 million, while cumulative net inflow amounted to $ 54 million to the government securities market during January-September 2022.

Foreign inflows to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), including primary and secondary market transactions, recorded a significant net inflow of $ 41 million in September 2022. 

On a cumulative basis, the CSE, including primary and secondary market transactions, recorded a net inflow of foreign investments amounting to $ 138 million during the nine months ending September 2022. 

In the corresponding period of last year there was an outflow of $ 215 million.

As per CSE data, in October net foreign inflows amounted to around $ 7 million and in the first 10 months the rupee value was Rs. 18 billion.
