Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs in charge of Tourism Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne has assured support for the revival of tourism in Sri Lanka.
He made this offer during a special discussion held with Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga at the on-going tourism fair IFTM Top Resa – Paris.
The Tourism Ministry said Lemoyne has reiterated that France fully supports the promotion of tourism and investment in Sri Lanka.
The two parties also focused on the implementation of a joint tourism development program between Sri Lanka and France to revive the COVID-hit tourism industry.
Ranatunga said the Government has paid special attention to revive the tourism industry and had carried out a successful vaccination drive to make Sri Lanka a COVID-safe destination for international travellers.
Ranatunga also held discussions with the representatives of French travel operators.
Noting that France is a top source market for Sri Lanka, Ranatunga said they were ready to implement a special package for French travellers targeting Sri Lanka this winter season.
