In view of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season, the Government has decided to increase the existing fuel quota under the QR code system from last night, the President’s Media Division (PMD) announced.
Accordingly, the proposal has been made to increase the three-wheel quota from 5 liters to 8 liters, the motorcycles quota from 4 liters to 7 liters, the bus quota from 40 liters to 60 liters, cars from 20 liters to 30 liters, land vehicles from 15 liters to 25 liters, lorries from 50 liters to 75 liters, quadric cycle from 4 liters to 6 liters, special purpose vehicles from 20 liters to 30 liters and vans from 20 liters to 30 liters.
New fuel quotas include; three-wheeler - 8 litres, motorcycles - 7 litres, buses - 60 litres, cars - 30 litres, land vehicles - 25 litres, lorries - 75 litres, quadric cycle - 6 litres, special purpose vehicles - 30 litres, and vans - 30 litres.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has ordered and received sufficient fuel stocks as originally anticipated in response to the rising fuel demand during the holiday season, a statement issued by the PMD noted.
