Fuel shortages in the country will not affect aviation services as the Colombo International Airport Ratmalana braces to resume international regional flights on 27 March after a 54 year hiatus, subject Minister revealed yesterday.

“The country’s fuel situation has never affected the aviation services because SriLankan Airlines and other airlines have continuously paid the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation in dollars and they have continuously supplied fuel on time. In future too, there will be no issues and we will continue to pay for jet fuel in dollars,” Aviation and Export Zones Development State Minister D.V. Chanaka said yesterday.

There is a storage capacity of 280,000 liters of aviation fuel at the Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana, and an adequate stock is maintained at CIAR to meet the demand accordingly.

The State Minister assured that the fuel shortage in the country will also not affect flight operations at Colombo International Airport Ratmalana.
