The Government has given permission to individuals who maintain private fuel reserves to import stocks of fuel including diesel.

Permission was issued yesterday, creating the scope for the relevant factories to continue their operations.

Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera was of the view that the move will ease the burden on the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) to supply fuel in bulk to factories.

This approval was given by the Minister at a discussion held at the Ministry yesterday.

Export-oriented industries were given permission to import fuel last month, while the approval was extended to other industries yesterday.
