The Government has paid 65% of all outstanding invoices as of yesterday, State Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.

“As of 31 August 2022, there was a total outstanding of Rs. 360 billion and of that now there is only Rs. 126.6 billion to be paid. A total of 65% is paid as of yesterday,” he said.

Siyambalapitiya said that the Government took a lot of measures to overcome the due amounts amidst many challenges.

Pointing out that only bills of Rs. 41.8 billion related to the construction sector have to be paid, the State Minister assured that no favouritism is given to anyone in settling the bills and the Government works only on the policy of settling the outstanding bills as soon as possible.

Separately he also said Sri Lanka will likely receive $ 320 million within the next two weeks, once the $ 2.9 billion IMF extended fund facility is finalised.
