Govt. to focus on repatriating migrant workers

• Workers from Kuwait, Dubai and Maldives to be among first to return 

The Government is focusing on repatriating migrant workers from Kuwait, Dubai and from the Maldives as the next step, Cabinet spokesman Bandula Gunawardana said yesterday.

As most students from South Asia and Europe have returned to date and students from Australia are set to be repatriated next week the Government will now look at bringing back migrant workers. 

“Returning of wo...rkers will begin from the Middle East and the Maldives as requested by them. The Government will bring them back on a staggered basis and send them to quarantine,” Gunawardana said.
