Identifying the critical role of air navigation and aviation security in maintaining safe flight operations, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Ports, Shipping, and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva to present regulations published via Gazette in Parliament for approval.
The Government recently published the Civil Aviation Aeronautical Service Provider (Air Navigation and Aviation Security) Licensing Regulations No. 01 of 2023. These regulations, issued by the Civil Aviation Act No. 14 of 2010, seek to regulate the provision of air navigation and air security services within the country.
On 3 April, the regulations were published in the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2326/16 have been specifically designed to ensure that Sri Lanka’s aeronautics and airspace adhere to the highest safety standards and recommended practices outlined in the annexes of the International Civil Aviation Convention.
By implementing these comprehensive regulations, Sri Lanka aims to strengthen its aviation infrastructure, bolster safety measures, and maintain the highest levels of security in its airspace. The orders cover various aspects of air navigation, including communication systems, navigation aids, air traffic management, and meteorological services.
