Hasitha promoted to newly created post of MD at Brandix Lanka

Hasitha Premaratne has been promoted to the newly created position of Managing Director at apparel industry leader Brandix Lanka Ltd.

Previously Hasitha was Brandix’ Chief Strategy Officer and Group Finance Director.

Apart from being the Managing Director, Hasitha’s new designation includes Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer.

With the Group for over 17 years, Hasitha is also the Managing Director of Brandix India Apparel City and oversees all joint ventures and investments for the Group, while being a Director in many of its subsidiaries including listed company, Teejay Lanka PLC.

Brandix livewire and industry leader Ashroff Omar remains as Group CEO.

The other members of the Board are Priyan Fernando (Chairman), Ajit Johnpillai, Nihal Fonseka, Hasib Omar, Sabeen Omar, Sadiq Omar and Jeevan William.

With over 60,000 employees, Brandix is engaged in manufacture and marketing of end-to-end apparel solutions for world renowned brands and operates in nine countries including India, Bangladesh, Haiti and the US. Brandix has been adjudged ‘Exporter of the Year’ for seven consecutive years at the Presidential Export Awards.

Hasitha is an experienced business leader with a demonstrated history of working in the apparel industry and financial services skilled in leadership, financial management, capital markets, economics and cross border investments. He is a strong professional having graduated in multiple disciplines and known for thinking out of the box.

Hasitha was formerly a Non-Executive Director at Bank of Ceylon, a Board member of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board and CIMA Sri Lanka. He was also a Committee member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. He holds an MBA in International Finance, a BSc in Computer Science, and is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA – UK), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA – UK), and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA – SL). He is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). A passionate teacher, Hasitha was the winner of the ‘Tutor of The Year Award’ at CIMA Global Financial Management Awards 2009 held in London. He was also the winner and Gold medallist of the prestigious ‘CIMA Star of the Year’ award in 2012 and the winner of ‘Young CIMA Star of the Year’ award in 2006.
