Hayleys PLC subsidiaries, Hayleys Fentons Ltd., has been awarded to develop 99 MW of ground mounted solar power plants, whilst Hayleys Electronics Ltd., has won 15 MW small solar power plants of 5MW each.
The Hayleys Fentons solar power plants are spread at grid substations countrywide and ranges from 2-5 MWs.
In addition, Energynet Ltd., has won two 5MW contracts and a 3 MW one, while Solar Forge Siyambalanduwa Ltd. has won a 3 MW contract and Global Consumer Brands Ltd., has won a 5 MW contract.
Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal by Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera to award the contract after bids were called for development of 165 MW projects for grid substations of Ampara, Anuradhapura, Athurugiriya, Beliatta, Deniyaya, Galle, Habarana, Horana, Kosgama, Kurunegala, Madampe, Mahiyanganaya, Maho, Mathara, Mathugama, Pannala, Polonnaruwa, Trincomallee, Wavunathivu and Veyangoda.
“After evaluating the proposals submitted by the bidders for each location, the recommendations of the negotiating consensus committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers had recommended awarding the relevant contracts,” Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardena said at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.
