In an exclusive pre-publication release to the Daily FT, leading business magazine LMD, publisher Media Services, announced its top 10 line-up in the forthcoming LMD 100 special edition.
Hayleys retains the No. 1 spot in the 28th edition of Sri Lanka’s pioneering listed company rankings for financial year 2020/21. With a consolidated revenue in excess of Rs. 240 billion, the conglomerate has secured top spot for the fifth consecutive year on the back of a 15% hike in turnover compared to the previous year.
This marks the eighth occasion that Hayleys has occupied the prime position in Sri Lanka’s version of the Fortune 500.
Expolanka Holdings moves up to second place on the podium – from No. 12 last year – with a top line of Rs. 218 billion while LOLC Holdings occupies third place with an increase in revenue of 23%.
The other listed entities in the top five are Commercial Bank of Ceylon (ComBank) and Hatton National Bank (HNB), which are placed fourth and fifth respectively.
Meanwhile, LOLC Holdings holds on to the top spot in the profitability rankings with a Profit After Tax of Rs. 53 billion, followed by ComBank (Rs. 17 billion) and Ceylon Tobacco Company (in excess of Rs. 15 billion). Expolanka Holdings and Vallibel One round up the top five of the most profitable entities in 2020/21.
A spokesperson for Media Services says the 100-strong rankings “affirm that Sri Lanka’s largest conglomerates and leading commercial banks remain at the forefront of listed entities in this nation.”
In addition to the listed company rankings, the annual LMD 100 special edition will cover the national economy and performance of Sri Lanka’s leading listed companies in financial year 2020/21. It will also feature a series of interviews with a collection of the LMD 100’s high achievers.
Media Services says the LMD 100 special edition will be released in January.
