Health authorities on Monday confirmed 171 COVID-19 deaths, which raised the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 6,434.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 75.48% of the total fatalities are over the age of 60, 23.44% are between ages 30 and 59, and 1.09% are below the age of 30.
On Monday, the deaths of 134 persons above the age of 60, 35 persons between ages 30 and 59, and two persons below the age of thirty were confirmed.
Of the fatalities confirmed on Monday, 102 were male and 69 were female. In total, 3,726 fatalities confirmed are male and 2,708 are female.
According to Our World in Data, Sri Lanka on Monday recorded 6.95 COVID-19 deaths per million people. At 10 a.m. on 1 August, Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll was 4,441, which means close to 2,000 COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in August alone.
