Hospital and tourist hotel industry sources said that due to the import restrictions imposed by the Government, there is a shortage of surgical bed sheets, toilet rolls, and other tissue products required by these industries.The sources also said that a serious situation may arise in the near future due to the restriction of the import of the raw materials required for toilet tissue and related products.

Toilet tissue is also a very essential product for the tourism industry and at the time of the Tourism Minister trying to bring one million tourists to the country, tourism industry experts said that it is questionable to restrict them in the effort to uplift the tourism industry.

They said toilet tissue and related products such as paper serviettes, hand towels, facial tissue, etc. are an essential commodity for hospitals and tourist hotels and restricting those was a surprise.

Even though the Government is making various efforts to provide dollars to the country, it is doubtful that tourists would visit a country that does not have even a piece of toilet tissue. The ban also comes when the country is seeing a sharp rise in COVID cases.
