The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has urged taxpayers to meet crucial payment deadlines this month to avoid penalties and legal repercussions.

According to the IRD, the deadline for Value Added Tax (VAT) and Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL) payments for November 2024 is set for 20 December.

In addition, it noted that taxpayers who missed payments for the assessment year 2023/24 must settle their income tax dues, unpaid self-assessment taxes, arrears, or agreed additional assessment taxes by 26 December.

The IRD Commissioner General has warned that failing to meet these deadlines will disqualify taxpayers from seeking relief from penalties on unpaid taxes.

The Department has also initiated field surveys and legal action under the Inland Revenue Act to recover outstanding self-assessment and arrears taxes.
