Tourism Minister Harin Fernando revealed yesterday that the highly anticipated super-luxury ITC Ratnadipa Colombo hotel is poised to open its doors next month.
“This landmark hotel is their first project outside India,” he told journalists last week.
The ITC Ratnadeepa Hotel project is a noteworthy venture as it signifies the maiden development in Sri Lanka by WelcomHotels Lanka Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the prestigious ITC Ltd.
The introduction of this super-luxury hotel promises a new level of opulence and service excellence in Colombo, catering to discerning travellers seeking an indulgent and world-class experience.
Minister Fernando also disclosed the imminent return of the world-renowned Intercontinental brand to Sri Lanka.
Recently, Sheraton Colombo Hotel, part of the world’s largest hotel chain Marriott opened its doors.
“The opening of international hotel chains in a destination not only enhances the local hospitality landscape but also contributes to elevating the destination’s international image and competitiveness. It boosts the confidence of investors as well as tourists coming into the country,” he said.
Fernando said these ventures also contribute to the overall economic growth and global perception of Sri Lanka as an elite travel destination.
